(-)-Folicanthine is a dimeric tryptamine-related alkaloid found in the fruits of Chimonanthus praecox. (-)-Folicanthine shows cytotoxic against cancer cells. (-)-Folicanthine can be used for the research of cancer, such as gastric carcinoma and hepatocarcinoma.

Biologische Aktivität
(-)-Folicanthine (Compound 12) (72 h) exhibits cytotoxic activity against human gastric carcinoma NUGC3 cells, human hepatocarcinoma SNU739 cells, and human neuroblastoma SHSY-5Y cells, with IC50 values of 13.3 ± 1.5 μM, 17.0 ± 2.8 μM, and 60.1 ± 3.5 μM respectively, and shows no significant cytotoxicity against human breast cancer MCF-7 cells (IC50 >100 μM)[1].
