Biological Activity
To prepare the pH PIPES buffer, 173 g of 1,4-piperazinediethanesulfonic acid are dissolved into 1 L of deionized water. The pH of the PIPES buffer is adjusted to 6.8 by adding pellets of sodium hydroxide. PIPES can be used to PIPES buffer, it can prevent the glutaraldehyde fixation induced lipid loss and artifacts[1].

It is recommended to prepare fresh solutions and use them promptly within a short period of time.
The percentages shown for the solvents indicate their volumetric ratio in the final prepared solution. If precipitation or phase separation occurs during preparation, heat and/or sonication can be used to aid dissolution.
