BHQ-2 NHS is a fluorescence dark quencher with an absorption spectrum spanning 550-650 nm that overlaps with tetramethylrhodamine (TMR) emission. BHQ-2 NHS quenches TMR fluorescence when conjugated to mesoporous silica nanoparticles. BHQ-2 NHS can be used for the research of cancer.

Activité biologique
BHQ-2 NHS ester reacts with APTES to form BHQ-2-APS, which is used to modify MSN to obtain qMSN. The loading capacity of BHQ-2 reaches 10.67 µmol g-1, with a fluorescence quenching efficiency of up to 94%[1].
