Dimethylglyoxime
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Dimethylglyoxime (Biacetyl dioxime) is an oxime compound. Dimethylglyoxime selectively coordinates with divalent nickel ions Ni2+ to form stable complexes, and can also coordinate with copper ions Cu2+, but does not coordinate with iron, selenium or zinc. Dimethylglyoxime inhibits the aggregation of human β-amyloid 40 peptide in vitro. Dimethylglyoxime is used in the research of Alzheimer's disease.

Biological Activity
Dimethylglyoxime (Biacetyl dioxime) (100-1000 μM; 60 min) dose-dependently inhibits aggregation of human recombinant amyloid beta 40 peptide in vitro, with full inhibition achieved at 500 μM and 1000 μM in the absence of supplemented metals or presence of 100 μM Ni2+, partial inhibition in the presence of Cu2+, and minimal to no inhibition in the presence of Zn2+[1].
Dimethylglyoxime (1 mM; 5 min per injection) does not directly bind to human recombinant amyloid beta 40 peptide, confirming its inhibitory effect on aggregation is mediated via metal chelation rather than direct peptide interaction[1].
Dimethylglyoxime coordinates with nickel and copper ions to form stable complexes in aqueous solution, but does not form detectable complexes with iron, selenium, or zinc ions[1].
