Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-hypercalcemia and anticoagulant activities. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid decreases the metal ion-catalyzed oxidative damage to proteins, and allows maintenance of reducing environment during protein purification.
