Ethisterone is a synthetic steroidal estrogen, is an orally active steroidal contraceptive agent. Ethisterone has almost no effect on the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system in male guinea pigs, while in utero exposure can induce abnormalities in the urogenital system of offspring.
