Cat. No.: HY-B0487 Purity: 98.02%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Ethisterone (Pregneninolone; 17α-Ethynyltestosterone) is a synthetic steroidal estrogen, is an orally active steroidal contraceptive agent. Ethisterone has almost no effect on the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system in male guinea pigs, while in utero exposure can induce abnormalities in the urogenital system of offspring.

Description

Ethisterone (Pregneninolone; 17α-Ethynyltestosterone) is a synthetic steroidal estrogen, is an orally active steroidal contraceptive agent. Ethisterone has almost no effect on the phagocytic activity of the reticuloendothelial system in male guinea pigs, while in utero exposure can induce abnormalities in the urogenital system of offspring[1][2].

In Vitro

Ethisterone acts as an inducer of urogenital abnormalities, with in utero exposure linked to increased offspring urogenital abnormality prevalence, higher risk with earlier exposure onset[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Ethisterone (0.5 mg; i.m.; daily; 2-4 weeks) has little or no effect on the phagocytic activity of the reticulo-endothelial system in male guinea pigs[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Guinea pigs (Male)[1]
Dosage: 0.5 mg
Administration: i.m.; daily; 2 weeks; 4 weeks
Result: Contained a moderate number of dye granules in macrophages of the spleen, liver, and lymph nodes.
Showed vital staining appearances closely resembling those of control animals.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
