Sodium caseinates is a kind of sodium salts of major milk proteins, which act as protein-based biopolymers and innate immune system activators. Sodium caseinates induce granulopoiesis, activation and differentiation, promote the production of M-CSF, and increase serum levels of G-CSF and GM-CSF. Sodium caseinates inhibit the proliferation and reduce the viability of leukemia macrophage-like cells, thereby significantly improving the survival rate of mice inoculated with leukemia cells. Sodium caseinates can serve as carriers for probiotics in edible films and exhibit anti-Listeria activity. Sodium caseinates effectively protect vitamin A from degradation, enhance its stability, bioaccessibility and bioavailability, and regulate protein digestibility when complexed with vitamin A. Sodium caseinates can be applied to research related to acute monocytic leukemia and vitamin A deficiency.

Sodium caseinates induce differentiation of mouse bone marrow band granulocytes and increase their M-CSF production in vitro[1].
Sodium caseinate (4% (w/v); 9 days at 4°C) films containing Lactobacillus acidophilus exhibit significant antilisterial activity against Listeria monocytogenes PTCC 1163 after 9 days at 4°C, while films containing Lactobacillus casei only show significant activity after 6 days at 4°C compared to control sodium caseinate films[2].
Sodium caseinates (0.5-2.0 mg/mL; 72 h) inhibits proliferation and induces macrophagic differentiation of J774 leukaemia macrophage-like cells without reducing cell viability[3].
Sodium caseinates (2.0 mg/mL; 24-120 h) inhibits proliferation of J774 leukaemia macrophage-like cells starting at 48 h and significantly reduces cell viability to ~15% after 120 h of incubation[3].
Sodium caseinates (13 μM VA; 20 h) do not exhibit cytotoxicity toward Caco-2 cells, resulting in 80-90% cell viability after 20 h of incubation with 13 μM VA[4].

Extended survival of treated mice: 60% of female mice survived beyond 160 days, and 50% of male mice survived beyond 160 days (all untreated leukaemic mice died before 100 days).
Eliminated residual autonomous leukaemic cell growth, as mononuclear bone marrow cells isolated from treated surviving mice did not proliferate in vitro without recombinant mouse interleukin-3.
