Congo Red Staining Solution (1%)
Congo Red Staining Solution (1%) is an absorptive histochemical staining solution based on Congo Red (HY-D0236), which is specifically designed to detect amyloid deposits in tissue sections. When observed under a polarizing microscope, the stained amyloid complexes exhibit characteristic apple-green birefringence, making it a standard tool for the diagnosis of amyloidosis.

Biological Activity
Congo Red Staining Solution (1%) binds to amyloid aggregates, amyloid β-sheet structures, and self-aggregated major basic proteins through hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions, inducing absorption peak shift and abnormal birefringence under cross-polarized light[1][2].
Congo Red Staining Solution (1%) acts as a pH indicator, supports image-based extraction of eosinophil granules, and can be used for the identification of amyloid substances in vitro and in tissue sections[1][2].
Congo Red Staining Solution (1%) stains intact, cytolytic eosinophil granules and extracellular eosinophil granules, but does not stain diffuse/linear MBP deposits in cardiac tissue samples[2].
Congo Red Staining Solution (1%) binds non-amyloid substances, inhibits amyloid fibril formation and accumulation of protease-resistant PrP, disrupts preformed polyglutamine oligomers, and induces oligomerization of native proteins[1].
