eIF4A3-IN-9 (Compound 57) (24-72 h) selectively inhibits the translation of mRNAs with highly structured 5′UTRs (such as c-myc) in MDA-MB-231 cells, while exerts weak inhibitory effects on the translation of mRNAs with simple 5′UTRs (such as tubulin); its EC50 values against myc-LUC and tub-LUC are 29 nM and 450 nM, respectively, and the EC50 for inhibiting the proliferation of MDA-MB-231 cells is 80 nM[1].
