Dimidazon
Dimidazon (BAS 29095) is a photosystem II inhibitor. Dimidazon inhibits photosynthetic electron transport by blocking the reoxidation of the primary electron acceptor Q, causing initial growth retardation followed by detoxification, fluorescence induction, and growth recovery in Scenedesmus acutus, without causing bleaching or inhibiting the water-splitting reaction. Dimidazon can be used for herbicidal activity research.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Dimidazon (4 µM; 5 min) immediately inhibits photosynthetic electron transport in intact Scenedesmus acutus cells, with a potency approximately 1/20 that of Diuron (HY-B0860)[1].
Dimidazon (5 µM; 1-30 h) initially retards the growth of Scenedesmus acutus cultures and inhibits photosynthesis, but the algae recover at 21-30 h without bleaching[1].
Dimidazon (0.84-1.40 kg/ha) controls Chenopodium album, Panicum dichotomiflorum, and Amaranthus retroflexus in field trials of the soybean variety Midstates 250, but does not control Mollugo verticillata, and its lowest application rate increases soybean yield 7-fold compared with the uncultivated control[3].
