Guanicaine
Guanidine is a guanidine-containing compound with hypoglycemic activity, which can serve as a Drug Intermediate for synthesizing various guanidine-skeleton derivatives. Guanidine hydrochloride induces hypoglycemia in rabbits and causes symptoms identical to those of parathyroidectomy-induced tetany in rabbits. Guanicaine and its derivatives are applicable to diabetes-related research.

Actividad biológica
Guanidine produces monoguanidine derivative agmatine (HY-WAA0304) and its alkyl homologs that all exhibit hypoglycemic effects, among which pentamethylene monoguanidine shows the strongest hypoglycemic activity and the lowest toxicity[1].
