NP-BSA (4-Hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl-bovine serum albumin) is an antigen-adjuvant conjugate of 4-Hydroxy-3-nitrophenylacetyl (NP) conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA), which is an immune complex. NP-BSA is taken up, processed, and presented by antigen-presenting cells to stimulate T-cell proliferation and the production of antigen-specific antibodies. NP-BSA can be used in the research of immunological vaccines.

NP-BSA (1 mg/mL; 1 h) confirms that CD40L-activated B cell cultures derived from NP-BSA-immunized mice maintain a population of NP-BSA-specific B cells (10.5 ± 6.7% of total B cells) after 4 days of in vitro culture^[1].
NP-BSA (1 μg/mL; 12 h) was processed and presented to primed primary T cells by CD40L-activated B cells from NP-BSA-immunized mice with efficiency comparable to that of mature bone marrow-derived dendritic cells^[1].
