Description

GMBS is a heterobifunctional crosslinker targeting primary amines and sulfhydryl groups. GMBS can be used for chemical crosslinking of proteins and crosslinking mass spectrometry (CXMS) to study protein folding and map interfaces between interacting proteins[1].

In Vitro

GMBS generates non-redundant and structurally compatible cross-links in BSA, aldolase, and yeast CNG protein subcomplexes[1].
GMBS generates a small amount of complementary cross-links in crude E. coli 70S ribosomes[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
