Guar gum is an orally active nonionic galactomannan polysaccharide. It is present in the endosperm of Cyamopsis tetragonolobus seeds. In Vivo

Guar gum (5%, daily, for 28 days) reduces serum cholesterol levels and body weight gain in hypercholesterolemic rats fed a high-fat diet, exhibiting cholesterol-lowering and weight-loss activities[2].
Guar gum (50-100 g/kg diet; administered orally via diet; daily; for 21 days) reduces body weight gain and food conversion rate in male Wistar rats in a dose-dependent manner in vivo, indicating its regulatory effects on nutrient utilization and growth[2].
