Description

Hericenone A is an isoindolinone found in the fruiting bodies of Hericium erinaceus. Hericenone A exerts cytotoxic activity against cancer cells. Hericenone A can be used for the research of cancer, such as metastatic human hepatocellular carcinoma[1].

In Vitro

Hericenone A (compound 6) (5-20 μg/mL; 24 h) dose-dependently inhibits the growth of SMMC-7221 and MHCC-97H human hepatocellular carcinoma cells, with the most potent activity observed at 20 μg/mL for 24 h[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Cell Viability Assay[1]

Cell Line: SMMC-7221, MHCC-97H
Concentration: 5, 10, 20 μg/mL
Incubation Time: 24 h
Result: Inhibited the growth of SMMC-7221 cells in a dose-dependent manner.
Inhibited the growth of MHCC-97H cells in a dose-dependent manner.
Showed the most potent activity against both cell lines at 20 μg/mL among all tested compounds.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
