3′-Hydroxy simvastatin is an oxidative metabolite of Simvastatin (HY-17502) produced by hepatic CYP450 metabolism, and is also the major terminal metabolite of Simvastatin in rats. 3′-Hydroxy simvastatin possesses HMG-CoA Reductase inhibitory activity. 3′-Hydroxy simvastatin is used in metabolism-related research.

(Rac)-3′-Hydroxy simvastatin is an isomer of 3′-Hydroxy simvastatin. 3′-Hydroxy simvastatin exhibits 20% of the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitory potency of Simvastatin acid (HY-119695)[1].
