Aspalathin
Aspalathin is a C-glycosyldihydrochalcone flavonoid and antioxidant.Aspalathin functions as an antimutagen.Aspalathin can be absorbed by pig intestine as a C-glycoside, and can also be cleaved into its aglycone and sugar moiety.Aspalathin is found in Aspalathus linearis (rooibos).

Biological Activity
Aspalathin (5 μg/mL) with optimized β-D-glucuronidase treatment (2096 U/mL for urine; 4611.2 U/mL for plasma) and SPE cleanup procedures achieves measurable recovery of aspalathin from spiked blank urine and plasma samples, with plasma showing higher recovery and variable precision depending on enzymatic treatment. Incubation times were 3 h for urine and 1 h for plasma enzymatic treatment[1].
