EphB6

EphB6 is the singular kinase-deficient member of the Eph family: its intracellular region lacks several tyrosine residues essential for catalysis, yet the receptor remains biologically active, transmitting signals by recruiting adaptor and effector proteins and by heterodimerizing with catalytically competent Eph receptors to modulate their output. EphB6 is expressed predominantly in lymphoid tissues, intestine and placenta. It behaves as a negative regulator of cell migration and adhesion, functions as a tumor suppressor that is silenced or lost in metastatic melanoma, breast and colorectal cancers, and has been implicated in T-cell signaling and inflammatory bowel disease. Recombinant EphB6 supports these mechanistic studies.
