Biological Activity
Melineurine (100 μg/mL) inhibits electric eel acetylcholinesterase with an IC50 of 95.3 μM, with steric hindrance from its 3,3-dimethyl-2-propeneyloxyl substituent reducing its binding affinity compared to more potent acetylcholinesterase inhibitors[1].
Melineurine (0.1-1.0 μM, 100 μg/mL) inhibits horse serum butyrylcholinesterase with an IC50 of 28.0 μM via a mixed competitive mechanism, with strong binding affinity mediated by multiple hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions with key active site residues[1].
