Description

Penetratin-Cys is a cell-penetrating peptide derived from Antennapedia Peptide (HY-P0307) via C-terminal cysteine modification. Penetratin-Cys acts as a cytotoxin and reduces the viability of differentiated neuronal cells. Penetratin-Cys localizes to the perinuclear region and binds to the Golgi apparatus. Penetratin-Cys can be used in research related to neurological disorders[1].

In Vitro

Penetratin-Cys dimer (50-400 μg/mL; 24 h) exhibits strong cytotoxicity against differentiated SH-SY5Y cells at the concentration of 400 μg/mL, and shows moderate cytotoxicity against HeLa cells and undifferentiated SH-SY5Y cells across the tested concentration range[1].
Penetratin-Cys dimer (7 μM/liter; 2-24 h) efficiently enters HeLa cells and localizes to the perinuclear region associated with the Golgi apparatus after 24 h of incubation[1].
Penetratin-Cys dimer exhibits weak antibacterial activity against E. coli, M. luteus, and S. aureus, with their MIC values ranging from 8 μmol/liter to >32 μmol/liter depending on the strain[1].

Cell Cytotoxicity Assay[1]

Result: Reduced HeLa cell viability to levels below 60% at 400 μg/mL.
Reduced undifferentiated SH-SY5Y cell viability to levels similar to penetratin-PrAMP constructs at 200 μg/mL.
Reduced differentiated SH-SY5Y cell viability to ~30% at 400 μg/mL.
