Description

Plantanone B is a moderate antioxidant-agent with an IC50 of 169.8±5.2 μM. Plantanone B shows significant ovine COX-1 and moderate COX-2 inhibitory activities. Plantanone B has the potential for inflammation-related diseases research[1].

IC50 & Target[1]

Ovine COX-1

21.78±0.2 μM (IC50)

Ovine COX-2

44.01±0.42 μM (IC50)

In Vitro

The antioxidant activity of Plantanone B is measured by the DPPH method. Plantanone B exhibits a moderate antioxidant activity, with an IC50 value of 169.8±5.2 μM[1].
Plantanone B inhibits COX-1 preferentially over COX-2 with selectivity index (SI) value of 0.49. It shows significant inhibitory activities against ovine COX-1 and COX-2 at concentration of 50 μM, with the inhibition of 76.18% and 21.78%, respectively[1].
.Plantanone B shows significant COX-1 and moderate COX-2 inhibitory activities with IC50 values of 21.78±0.20 μM for COX-1, as well as 44.01±0.42 μM for COX-2, respectively[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
