Poloxamer L64 is a nonionic polymeric surfactant formed by block copolymerization of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide. Poloxamer L64 can be combined with hydrophilic silica to construct a thixotropic gel matrix system. Poloxamer L64 can be used in organic synthesis-related research, such as low-foam wetting agents and emulsifiers.

Poloxamer L64 can form a thixotropic gel system with Aerosil 200, and this system exhibits concentration-dependent apparent viscosity and hysteresis loop rheological characteristics; increasing the Aerosil 200 concentration improves the dispersion stability of this gel system[2].
