CLEC14A

CLEC14A is an endothelium-restricted C-type lectin that belongs, together with CD93 and thrombomodulin, to a small family sharing a CUB-EGF-thrombospondin module architecture. Highly expressed on the vasculature of tumors and on proliferating endothelium, but largely quiescent in mature vessels, it functions as an adhesion molecule interacting with partners such as MFG-E8 and integrins to regulate endothelial migration, sprouting, and tube formation. Because of its enrichment in tumor blood vessels, CLEC14A has attracted interest as an anti-angiogenic and vascular-targeting candidate. Recombinant CLEC14A protein supports angiogenesis assays, interaction studies with MFG-E8 and integrins, and screening of antibodies aimed at tumor endothelium.
