PIP4K2B

PIP4K2B (PI5P4Kβ) is a ubiquitously expressed type 2 PI5P 4-kinase that consumes phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate to form PI(4,5)P2, positioning it as a key controller of PI5P-dependent signaling. It distributes across nuclear and cytoplasmic compartments and associates with endosomal membranes, where it influences trafficking and growth-factor signaling. PIP4K2B has been linked to regulation of cell proliferation, to AKT and mTOR pathway output, and to the DNA-damage response; its expression is elevated in several tumor types, and small-molecule inhibitors of the PIP4K2 family are being explored for cancer and for disorders of mTOR signaling.
