Strawberry aldehyde  (Synonyms: Ethyl methylphenylglycidate)

Cat. No.: HY-W014610
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Strawberry aldehyde is an orally active synthetic flavor compound widely used in the food and cosmetics industries. Its presence in small cigar smoke shows a significant positive correlation with free radical levels, thereby increasing the toxicity of the smoke. Strawberry aldehyde has demonstrated long-term safety in rats.

Description

Strawberry aldehyde is an orally active synthetic flavor compound widely used in the food and cosmetics industries. Its presence in small cigar smoke shows a significant positive correlation with free radical levels, thereby increasing the toxicity of the smoke. Strawberry aldehyde has demonstrated long-term safety in rats[1][2].

In Vivo

Strawberry aldehyde (0.02-0.5% diet; daily feeding; for 2 years) at dietary levels up to 0.5% for 2 years does not demonstrate carcinogenic effects in Rattus norvegicus, with a no-untoward-effect level of 0.1% (equivalent to ~35 mg/kg/day in males and ~60 mg/kg/day in females)[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
