Biological Activity
8-Demethyleucalyptin (Compound C2) exhibits bacteriostatic activity against MSSA ATCC 25923 and MRSA ATCC 33591 with MIC of 31.25 μg/mL and 62.5 μg/mL[1].
8-Demethyleucalyptin (15.625-31.25 μg/mL; 48 h) inhibits biofilm formation of MRSA and MSSA with inhibition rate of 31.6% and 37.1%[1].
8-Demethyleucalyptin (15.625-31.25 μg/mL; 48 h) weakly inhibits staphyloxanthin biosynthesis of MRSA and MSSA with inhibition rate of 14.2% and 22.2% and reduces acid tolerance[1].
8-Demethyleucalyptin (31.25-62.5 μg/mL; 18 h) disrupts cell membrane and wall integrity in MSSA and MRSA[1].
8-Demethyleucalyptin (48-72 h) inhibits HCT116 and MRC-5 cells viability (IC50 = 6.4 and 7.0 μM and IC50 >100 μM for Jurkat cells)[2].
