Description

ABBV-4083 is an analog of Tylosin A that has potent anti-Wolbachia and anti-filarial activity[1].

In Vivo

ABBV-4083 (150 mg/kg, once daily for 14 days) reduces Wolbachia levels (measured 16 weeks post-treatment-initiation, pti) in mice by >99.9% in the recovered female adult worms. Levels of circulating microfilariae declines from ~7 weeks pti and are completely cleared from 12 weeks pti until the end of this study at 16 weeks pti[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Female BALB/c mice or female jirds were infected at 6–8 weeks of age with L. sigmodontis larvae through the bites of Ornithonyssus bacoti mites[1].
Dosage: 150 mg/kg.
Administration: PO once daily for 14 days started at 14 weeks post infection (pti).
Result: Wolbachia levels (measured 16 weeks post-treatment-initiation, pti) were reduced by >99.9% in the recovered female adult worms.
Starting at ~7 weeks pti, levels of circulating microfilariae declined and were completely cleared from 12 weeks pti until the end of this study at 16 weeks pti.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
