Description

α-Acetohydroxybutyric acid is a metabolic intermediate produced under the catalysis of acetolactate synthase. α-Acetohydroxybutyric acid is generated from 2-oxobutyric acid and converted into 2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylpentanoic acid in the 2-methylbutanol biosynthetic pathway[1].

In Vitro

α-Acetohydroxybutyric acid is a key intermediate in the engineered 2-methylbutanol biosynthetic pathway in recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae, where it is generated from 2-oxobutanate by acetolactate synthase and converted to 2,3-dihydroxy-3-methylvalerate by ketol-acid reductoisomerase[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
