Description

Antimalarial agent 61 is an antimalarial agent. Antimalarial agent 61 disrupts hemoglobin breakdown in Plasmodium falciparum asexual blood stage trophozoites. Antimalarial agent 61 exerts antiplasmodial activity against Chloroquine (HY-17589A)-sensitive Plasmodium falciparum parasites. Antimalarial agent 61 can be used for the research of malaria[1].

IC50 & Target[1]

Plasmodium falciparum sporozoites

In Vitro

Antimalarial agent 61 (Compound 33) (20 μM) potently inhibits Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 parasite growth with an IC50 of 0.08 μM and shows minimal cytotoxicity to HeLa cells (IC50 >20 μM)[1].
Antimalarial agent 61 (0.8 μM; 2.5 h) disrupts hemoglobin catabolism in Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 trophozoites and exhibits a distinct metabolic profile suggesting additional mechanistic pathways[1].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
