In Vivo

C16-VVVAAAEEE (compound PA) (50 µL; injection into corpora cavernosa; single administration) forms a gel uniformly throughout the entire corpora cavernosa and persists in vivo for at least 7 days, with degradation mostly complete by 14 days^[1].

Sprague Dawley rats (postnatal day 115-120, bilateral cavernous nerve resection)^[1]
Dosage:

20; 50; 100 µL (volume optimization); 50 µL (duration study); 10 mM final concentration
Administration:

Injection into corpora cavernosa; single administration
Result:

Visualized a highly brightened region of the penis at 20 µL.
Formed a gel uniformly throughout the entire penis at 50 µL.
Did not remain localized within the penis at 100 µL.
Remained localized completely in the penis when a silk tie was used.
Showed well dispersed fluorescence throughout both corpora cavernosa when injected distally.
Did not appear to reach all of the adjacent corpus cavernosum when injected proximally.
Formed a thin layer lining the sinusoidal spaces at 1 hour.
Was still abundant and clearly visible within the corpora cavernosa at 7 days.
Was observed as a nonspecific fluorescence indicating mostly degraded at 14 days.
