Penitrem B
Penitrem B (Tremortin B) is a dechlorinated indole diterpene tremorgen found in fungi such as Penicillium palitans and Aspergillus sulphureus. Penitrem B induces tremors, ataxia, and convulsions in mice. Penitrem B is used in research related to tremogenic mycotoxicosis and fungal infections.

Description
In Vitro
Penitrem B exhibits weak or no cytotoxic activity against A549 and HL-60 cell lines[1].
Penitrem B is obtained by extraction and purification from Fernbach cultures of Penicillium palitans NRRL 3468, with a yield of approximately 25 mg[2].

Result:Caused perceptible tremors at doses as low as 1.3 mg/kg which persisted for several hours.
Caused 3 deaths out of 4 animals at 5.52 mg/kg.
Caused 4 deaths out of 4 animals at 11.04 mg/kg.
Calculated an LD50 of 5.84 mg/kg with a 95% confidence interval of 4.13 to 8.26 mg/kg.
