Glyceocarpin
Glyceocarpin is a phytoalexin and antibacterial agent naturally occurring in Glycine max, with weak antifungal activity. Glyceocarpin serves as the biosynthetic precursor of Glyceollins II (HY-N18032) and Glyceollins III. Glyceocarpin can be biosynthesized by the prenyltransferase and subsequent modification by cytochrome P450 enzymes. Glyceocarpin can be used for the study of soybean root and stem rot caused by Phytophthora sojae.

Glyceocarpin can be oxidatively cyclized into Glyceollin II and Glyceollin III by GmGIIS and GmGIIIS respectively in both Nicotiana benthamiana leaves and Saccharomyces cerevisiae WAT11 cells[1].
Glyceocarpin serves as a key precursor for the de novo biosynthesis of Glyceollin II and Glyceollin III in engineered yeast strains[1].
Glyceocarpin (25 μg) exhibits antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas pisi[2].
Glyceocarpin (30 μg) shows weak antifungal activity against Cladosporium cucumerinum[2].
Glyceocarpin (1 mg/mL; 48 hours) accumulates in elicitor-treated soybean cotyledons[2].
Glyceocarpin specifically serves as a substrate for soybean CYP82A subfamily enzymes (CYP82A4, CYP82A4b, CYP82A2, CYP82A24) to produce Glyceollin II, Glyceollin III, or a mixture of Glyceofuran, 13-epi-glyceollin III, and Glyceollin VII, respectively[3].
