In Vitro
Arylsulfatase (0.5-25 mg/ml homogenate; 0.5-24 h) from mammalian tissues (with highest activity in hamster and rat organs) hydrolyzes potassium 6-benzoyl-2-naphthylsulfate optimally at 37 °C, pH 6.1 (acetate buffer), with first-order kinetics over 1-16 hr, no product/substrate inhibition in tested ranges, and minimal to no activity in most human and animal neoplasms[1].
Arylsulfatase (5 mg/ml homogenate; 0-24 h 60 °C exposure) from rat kidney homogenates undergoes progressive thermal inactivation at 60 °C, with nearly complete inactivation (93%) after 24 hr of exposure[1].
