Polyvinylimidazole
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Polyvinylimidazole (Vimdemer) is an antibacterial polymer and membrane modifier. Polyvinylimidazole can form anticancer complexes with Cadmium chloride. Polyvinylimidazole disrupts bacterial membrane structures through electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions, inhibits bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, thereby reducing membrane surface biofouling and enhancing the water flux recovery rate after fouling-cleaning cycles. Polyvinylimidazole exhibits broad-spectrum but selective antibacterial activity, inhibiting fungi and bacteria. Polyvinylimidazole can modify PVDF membranes, and the modified membranes inhibit bacteria in a concentration-dependent manner. Polyvinylimidazole can be used in research related to cancer, fungal and bacterial infections.

Activité biologique
Description
In Vitro
Polyvinylimidazole (5-15% w/v) modified membranes inhibit E. coli and S. aureus in a concentration-dependent manner[2].
After loading with polyvinylimidazole (5-15% w/v; 107 CFU/mL bacteria; 3 h filtration; before and after cleaning), the live cell area of E. coli and S. aureus on the membrane surface after dynamic fouling decreases, while the dead cell area increases, with the M15 membrane showing the lowest residual live cell area[2].
Polyvinylimidazole (5-15% w/v; 3 h) modified membranes cause structural disruption of adhered E. coli and S. aureus[2].
Polyvinylimidazole (0.5-2 mg/mL; 1-24 h) kills Kloeckera apiculata and Candida albicans, and inhibits all tested bacteria and fungi in plate count assays[3].
Polyvinylimidazole modifies the PVDF membrane, gradually reducing the pore size, porosity, and roughness while increasing the positive zeta potential[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
