CuFS is a reaction-based fluorescent sensor for detecting Cu2+ with zero background fluorescence. CuFS acts as a fluorescence quencher in the absence of Cu2+ and as a fluorescence enhancer in the presence of Cu2+. CuFS can be fabricated into test strips and applied to the detection of Cu2+ in human cancer cells.

Description

CuFS is a reaction-based fluorescent sensor for detecting Cu2+ with zero background fluorescence. CuFS acts as a fluorescence quencher in the absence of Cu2+ and as a fluorescence enhancer in the presence of Cu2+. CuFS can be fabricated into test strips and applied to the detection of Cu2+ in human cancer cells[1].

In Vitro

CuFS (10 μM; 30 min at room temperature) shows almost zero background fluorescence in PBS containing 20% THF. After reaction with 22 μM Cu2+, it produces an 811-fold fluorescence enhancement centered at 469 nm. Its detection limit for Cu2+ is 12.3 nM, with a linear response range from 12.3 nM to 2.0 μM[1].
CuFS (0-20 μM; incubated at 37 °C for 30 min) exhibits negligible background fluorescence and induces concentration-dependent fluorescence enhancement in human hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-7721 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
