Dehydrodicatechin A

Dehydrodicatechin A is a biflavan catechin dimer and antioxidant. Dehydrodicatechin A is isolated from the roots of Hagenia abyssinica, the stem bark of Choerospondias axillaries, the stems of Entada phaseoloides, and Calligonum comosum. Dehydrodicatechin A exhibits ABTS⁺ radical cation, DPPH, ABTS, and superoxide anion radical scavenging activities, as well as ferric reducing/antioxidant power. Dehydrodicatechin A inhibits Lipase. Dehydrodicatechin A is used in studies on polycystic ovary syndrome, Ehrlich ascites, and Doxorubicin (HY-15142)-induced cardiotoxicity.

Dehydrodicatechin A (6 min) exhibits strong antioxidant activity in the ABTS⁺ radical cation scavenging assay, with an IC₅₀ of 9.041 μg/mL^[1].
Dehydrodicatechin A (15 min) exhibits moderate antioxidant activity in DPPH, ABTS, and β-carotene-linoleate assays, but shows weak ferric reducing ability and negligible superoxide radical scavenging activity^[8].
Dehydrodicatechin A (100 µg/mL; 24 h) does not exhibit significant inhibitory effects on K562 cell proliferation^[3].
Dehydrodicatechin A (50.0 µg/mL; 24 h) shows significant protective effects against hypoxia-induced injury in cultured PC12 cells^[3].
Dehydrodicatechin A exhibits high pancreatic lipase inhibitory activity^[5].
