EphB1

EphB1 is an EphB-class receptor that preferentially binds ephrin-B1 and ephrin-B2. Like other Eph receptors, it carries an extracellular ephrin-binding domain, a cysteine-rich linker, two fibronectin type III repeats and an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain. It is expressed in the nervous system and on vascular endothelium, where it contributes to axon guidance at the optic chiasm and anterior commissure, to angiogenesis, and to pain processing: EphB1-ephrin-B interactions in the spinal dorsal horn facilitate NMDA receptor-dependent signaling and have been implicated in neuropathic and inflammatory pain. EphB1 expression is also altered in gastric and colorectal cancers. Recombinant EphB1 proteins support ephrin-B binding assays and studies of neurovascular and nociceptive signaling.
