Dodecanal
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Dodecanal is an aliphatic aldehyde and serves as the major volatile metabolite in the leaves, stems and roots of Polygonum minus. Dodecanal acts as a substrate for oxidation reactions and is converted into dodecanoic acid by endogenous ALDH enzymes. Dodecanal is an intermediate in the biological oxidation pathway of n-dodecane and the biotransformation pathway of ω-aminododecane.

Description
In Vitro
Dodecanal (1-Dodecanal) is a thermodynamically unfavorable intermediate produced by the alcohol dehydrogenase-catalyzed oxidation of 1-dodecanol, and it can be further oxidized to 1-dodecanoic acid by endogenous aldehyde dehydrogenases in E. coli[2].
Dodecanal accumulates as a limiting intermediate during the biological oxidation of n-dodecane by recombinant Escherichia coli GEC137 pGEc47DJ[3].
