Feldamycin
Feldamycin is an antibacterial agent. Feldamycin inhibits highly purified Escherichia coli RNA polymerase, semi-conservative DNA replication, and the integration of 34S DNA fragments into larger DNA, and causes the accumulation of a 34S DNA species during replication. Feldamycin inhibits melanin synthesis and leukemia cell growth, and possesses antibacterial activity. Feldamycin can be used in research related to bacterial infections, leukemia, and melanoma.

Description
In Vitro
Feldamycin (0.1-1 mM; 30 min) inhibits semiconservative DNA replication in toluenized E. coli H560 cells, achieving 80% inhibition at 1 mM[1].
Feldamycin (0.1-1 mM; 30 min) only moderately affects DNA repair synthesis in toluenized E. coli H560 cells, producing 12% inhibition at 1 mM[1].
Feldamycin (0.5 mM; 30 min) moderately inhibits RNA synthesis in toluenized E. coli H560 cells, producing 18% inhibition at 0.5 mM[1].
Feldamycin (30 min) moderately inhibits semiconservative DNA synthesis in toluenized E. coli H560 cells as analyzed by isopycnic centrifugation[1].
Feldamycin inhibits highly purified E. coli RNA polymerase to some extent[1].
Feldamycin (varying concentrations; 18 h) inhibits melanin synthesis in S. bikiniensis B-1049 with an IC50 of 1.29 μg/mL[2].
Feldamycin (1-10 mg/mL) inhibited a range of bacteria in a disc-plate assay, with the largest zone of inhibition against S. lutea UC-130 (48 mm at 10 mg/mL) and no activity against B. cereus UC-3145, P. oxalicum UC-1268, or Ps. aeruginosa UC-95[3].
In cell-free studies, feldamycin interacts with DNA and moderately inhibits bacterial RNA-polymerase[3].
Feldamycin (varying concentrations; 6 days) inhibits melanin synthesis in B-16 melanoma cells with an MEC of 25 μg/mL[2].
Feldamycin (38 µg/mL) has low inhibitory activity against L-1210 mouse leukemia cells in culture, with an ID50 of 38 µg/mL[3].
