Asulam
Based on 1 publication(s) in Google Scholar
Asulam is a sulfonamide Herbicide, Antibacterial agent, and DHPS inhibitor. Asulam targets the folate biosynthesis pathway. Asulam inhibits photosynthesis and ATP production, while inducing alterations in amino acid metabolism, mitotic spindle disruption leading to metaphase arrest, and chromosome aberration induction. Asulam impedes the growth of transformed root species. Asulam has activity against Arabidopsis thaliana and Escherichia coli.

Biological Activity
Description
In Vitro
Asulam (0.125-4 mM; 15 days) is the most effective of the tested sulfonamide herbicides against Arabidopsis thaliana, inhibiting growth from 0.25 mM onward after pre-emergence application[1].
Asulam (100 μg/mL) selects for Sulfamethoxazole (HY-B0322)-tolerant Escherichia coli BW25113 in vitro by increasing the frequency of chromosomal folP mutations[3].
Asulam (1.1 kg ae/ha; 6 days) does not significantly affect the chlorophyll content of wild oat (Avena fatua L.) leaves 6 days after foliar application at 1.1 kg/ha[4].
Asulam (1.1 kg ae/ha; 6 days) inhibits ATP production by 35% in wild oat (Avena fatua L.) leaves 6 days after foliar application of 1.1 kg/ha[4].
Asulam inhibits the growth of Cirsium cell suspension cultures but does not cause a significant loss of cell viability as determined by fluorescein diacetate staining[5].
