Geranyl isobutyrate
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Geranyl isobutyrate is a synthetic α,β‑unsaturated branched‑chain aliphatic ester and a geraniol derivative. Geranyl isobutyrate acts as a food and feed flavouring agent and a biologically active antimicrobial compound. Geranyl isobutyrate shows antimicrobial activity against Gram‑positive and most Gram‑negative bacteria.

Biological Activity
Geranyl isobutyrate (6 µL; 24 h) produces measurable inhibition zones against Staphylococcus aureus (11 mm), Enterococcus faecalis (13 mm), Escherichia coli (7 mm), Proteus vulgaris (7 mm), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (9 mm), Salmonella sp. (7 mm), and Candida albicans (12 mm), but shows no activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae in an agar diffusion assay[2].
Geranyl isobutyrate (100-1000 ppm; 24 h) has a minimum inhibitory concentration of 600 ppm against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella sp., and Candida albicans, but shows no inhibitory activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae in an agar serial tube dilution assay[2].
