Hydrolapachol
Hydrolapachol is a mitochondrial respiratory chain inhibitor that targets the site between cytochrome b and c1, and inhibits succinate oxidation in rat liver mitochondria. Hydrolapachol can be used in studies related to mitochondrial respiration.

Biological Activity
Hydrolapachol inhibits succinate oxidation in intact rat liver mitochondria with an IC50 of 1.6 μg per mg protein[1].
Hydrolapachol exerts a stronger inhibitory effect on succinate oxidation in intact rat liver mitochondria at lower pH, and this inhibition is completely reversed by bovine serum albumin, CCCP (HY-100941) and 2,4-dibromophenol, and partially reversed by 2,4-dinitrophenol; at low inhibitor concentrations, phosphate (or arsenate) is required to achieve maximal inhibition of succinate oxidation in intact rat liver mitochondria[1].
Hydrolapachol can be prepared by platinum oxide-platinum black-catalyzed hydrogenation of Isolapachol, and can also be obtained by hydrogenation of lapachol[2].
