Insect repellent M 3535  (Synonyms: Ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate; IR-3535)

Cat. No.: HY-W099479 Purity: 98.44%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Insect repellent M 3535 (Ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate) is a broad-spectrum, mild insect repellent based on the structure of β-alanine. Insect repellent M 3535 exerts repellent effects by interfering with the olfaction of mosquitoes, but it poses risks of developmental and cardiac toxicity to aquatic organisms such as zebrafish embryos in aquatic environments, and can activate oxidative stress responses.

Description

Insect repellent M 3535 (Ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate) is a broad-spectrum, mild insect repellent based on the structure of β-alanine. Insect repellent M 3535 exerts repellent effects by interfering with the olfaction of mosquitoes, but it poses risks of developmental and cardiac toxicity to aquatic organisms such as zebrafish embryos in aquatic environments, and can activate oxidative stress responses[1][2].

In Vitro

The combination of Insect repellent M 3535 (10%; 30 min) and 1% supercritical cinnamon oil at a ratio of 1:1 exhibits aromatic repellent activity against Culex pipiens pallens[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Insect repellent M 3535 (10-30 mg/L, immersion in aqueous solution; solution replaced daily; 5.5-72 h post fertilization) exerts dose-dependent developmental toxicity and cardiotoxicity on zebrafish embryos during the period from 5.5 hpf to 72 hpf, as well as activates the oxidative stress-mediated apoptotic pathway[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Wild-type zebrafish (Danio rerio) and transgenic lines Tg(myl7:GFP), Tg(myl7:GFP;gata1:Dsred)
[2]
Dosage: 10 mg/L, 20 mg/L, 30 mg/L
Administration: aquatic immersion; daily solution renewal; 5.5 hpf to 72 hpf
Result: Reduced body length, slowed yolk absorption, caused spinal curvature and pericardial edema, decreased heart rate, impaired cardiac looping and pumping function, dysregulated cardiac developmental genes (nkx2.5, myh6, tbx5a, vmhc, gata4, tbx2b).
Elevated ROS and MDA levels, lowered CAT and SOD activities, upregulated apoptosis‑related genes (bax/bcl2, p53, caspase9, caspase3), and triggered apoptosis.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
