CD94

CD94, encoded by KLRD1, is a type II transmembrane C-type lectin of the CLEC94/NKG2 group that is cataloged here among AIM2-like receptors because of its PYHIN-adjacent lectin-receptor biology. On NK cells and T-cell subsets it does not signal alone but forms disulfide-linked heterodimers with NKG2A, NKG2B, NKG2C, or NKG2E, and these complexes survey HLA-E presenting peptides derived from other MHC class I leaders. NKG2A/CD94 delivers inhibition through ITIMs, whereas NKG2C/CD94 provides activating signals via DAP12, balancing tolerance against infected or transformed cells. Recombinant CD94 supports HLA-E tetramer work, NK-cell inhibitory-receptor studies, and immune-monitoring assays.
