Montanastatin
Montanastatin is an antitumor agent that can be isolated from the terrestrial actinomycete Streptomyces anulatus. Montanastatin inhibits the growth of various cancer cells. Montanastatin can be used in research related to lymphocytic leukemia, ovarian cancer, brain cancer, renal cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer and melanoma.

In Vitro
Montanastatin (Compound 1) inhibits the growth of mouse P388 leukemia cells and a variety of human cancer cell lines, with a GI50 of 7.5 μg/mL for mouse P388 leukemia cells. The human cancer cell lines include OVCAR-3 (GI50 = 1.2 μg/mL), SF-295 (GI50 = 3.3 μg/mL), A-498 (GI50 = 2.0 μg/mL), NCI-H460 (GI50 = 1.4 μg/mL), KM20L2 (GI50 = 1.4 μg/mL) and SK-MEL-5 (GI50 = 1.3 μg/mL)[1].
