Description

Moreollic acid is a PTP1B inhibitor, with an IC50 of 4.44 μM and a Ki of 1.75 μM against human targets. Moreollic acid blocks cell cycle progression from the G1 to S phase and inhibits tumor cell proliferation. Moreollic acid can be used in research related to type 2 diabetes, obesity, colon cancer and other cancers[1][2].

In Vitro

Moreollic acid (Compound 2) (5 μM; 48 h) potently inhibits the viability of HCT116 human colon cancer cells with an inhibition rate of 83.86%, whereas it exhibits only weak or no inhibitory effect on the viability of A549, MDA-MB-231 and KYSE30 cancer cells[2].
Moreollic acid (48 h) inhibits the viability of human colon cancer cells HCT116, DLD1 and SW620, with IC50 values of 1.71 μM, 1.44 μM and 1.49 μM, respectively; in contrast, it shows a higher IC50 value of 3.16 μM against normal NCM460 colonic epithelial cells[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
