EphA3

EphA3, formerly known as HEK or EK5, is an EphA-class receptor expressed on hematopoietic progenitors, tissue stroma and vasculature and, notably, on stromal and tumor-infiltrating cells of several malignancies, while being largely absent from most normal adult tissues. Its ligands include ephrin-A2 and ephrin-A5, and activation drives cytoskeletal changes affecting cell morphology, adhesion and migration. EphA3 influences lung alveolar development and cardiac remodeling after injury, and its restricted tumor-stroma expression has made it a target of the monoclonal antibody ifabotuzumab in trials for acute myeloid leukemia and mesothelioma. Recombinant EphA3 proteins support these antibody and ligand-binding studies.
