Enalapril (MK-421) is an orally active angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. Enalapril blocks the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, regulates the renin-angiotensin system, reduces preload and afterload, and decreases plasma angiotensin II levels.
