Triethyl phosphate
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Triethyl phosphate is a versatile phosphate ester compound. Triethyl phosphate induces rapid and short-acting anesthesia, and exhibits hypotensive, smooth muscle relaxant, and cardiac inhibitory effects. Triethyl phosphate also modulates cholinergic toxicity; its anesthetic effect shows sex- and age-dependency in rodents, and it interacts with SKF 525-A (HY-B1311) to alter the duration of anesthesia.

Biological Activity
Triethyl phosphate (437-500 mg/kg; i.p.) exhibits weaker anesthetic potency in weanling Holtzman rats than in adult rats, with an ED50 value of 437 mg/kg in female rats and 495 mg/kg in male rats, and the duration of anesthesia is shorter at 500 mg/kg[2].
Triethyl phosphate (600-690 mg/kg; i.p.) induces anesthesia in adult male Swiss Webster mice, with an ED50 of 600 mg/kg, and triggers an anesthetic response with rapid onset, short duration, and mild persistent ataxia[2].
The duration of anesthesia induced by triethyl phosphate (500 mg/kg; i.p.) in adult female Holtzman rats is not affected by pre-administration of phenobarbital or SKF 525-A (HY-B1311)[2].
The duration of anesthesia induced by triethyl phosphate (690 mg/kg; i.p.) in adult male Swiss Webster mice is significantly shortened by phenobarbital pretreatment, while it is significantly prolonged by SKF 525-A pretreatment[2].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Dosage:600 mg/kg (ED50); 650 mg/kg; 690 mg/kg
-
Administration:i.p.
-
Result:Determined ED50 dose for loss of righting reflex as 600 mg/kg.
Observed onset of narcosis within 5 minutes after injection, with duration less than 2 hours and little persistent ataxia.

Animal Model:Holtzman rats (adult, female)[2]
-
Dosage:500 mg/kg
-
Administration:i.p.
-
Result:Recorded mean duration of loss of righting reflex as 31.8 minutes in control rats, 42.1 minutes in phenobarbital-pretreated rats, 34.5 minutes in SKF 525-A (2-hour pretreatment) rats, and 40.6 minutes in SKF 525-A (1-hour pretreatment) rats; none of these differences were statistically significant.
